Welcome to our January Newsline update. Here’s a brief snapshot of what we’re focusing on across Norfolk Neighbourhood Watch.

Heritage Watch

Natalie Butler is our lead Coordinator and is looking forward to the launch of this new initiative which is being launched by the Police & Crime Commissioner in the spring.  Natalie already looks after and coordinates many of Norfolk’s historic sites across the county in her role as Director of the Norfolk Archaeological Trust. More updates on this to follow. 

Pilot Survey – North Norfolk
Our pilot survey has completed with encouraging engagement. Around 400 members were contacted, responses were higher than expected, and several residents volunteered for follow-up conversations.

Key message: residents want stronger neighbourhood connection — not surveillance.

Next steps: follow-up calls, a clear findings summary, and planning for a county-wide rollout in 2026.

Strategic Direction
We’re prioritising sustainable, volunteer-friendly activity, with a strong focus on neighbourliness and positive local stories.

Next steps:
• Monthly online coordinator meetings (last Thursday in the month) Next meeting 26th February 
• Send us your agenda ideas for one of our meetings
• Shared space for storytelling. We want to hear about your successes and bring them to our wider membership

Digital Development

We continue to support low-cost, open-source digital tools.

Next steps: testing systems, reviewing access and training needs, and producing simple guidance.

Local Coordinator Updates (from January meeting)
• Street lighting: safety concerns raised for winter visibility — council progress being monitored.
• Community engagement: low meet-and-greet attendance, but successful police engagement via SNAP (to be shared as best practice).

Our Message
NNW is about reassurance, neighbour support, and community connection. We’re aligning all communications to reinforce this consistently.
